The girls track team finished 7th out of 14 teams at the Clarksville relays on Thursday night. The highlights of the night came in the girls 100 m dash and the 4 x 100 m relay. In the 100, Katie Ernstberger set a new record of 12.5 seconds. the previous record was set in 1973 and was 12.7 seconds. A short time later, the 4 x100 m relay team of Ernstberger, Kaitlyn Stewart, Mykala Jones and Haley Harting finally broke a record that they have been chasing for two years. The girls ran a 53.03 second race, beating the 1993 record of 53.90 seconds. That team finished 2nd in the race. Other placings in the meet were: Long jump – Ernstberger and Nancy Dalton – 4th, Pole vault – Dalton and Dainah Burnett – 4th, Sprint medley (Stewart, Harting, Chelbi Whitaker and Allie McClellan) – 5th, 800 m relay (McClellan, Whitaker, Jones and Harting) – 5th Sierra Cleek and Olivia Fleenor ran in the coed 4 x 400 m with James Jarequi and Patrick Parrish and placed 5th. Overall it was an exciting night for the girls!
