Eastern Musketeers Varsity best Southwestern (Hanover, IN) in shootout, 10-9
Scoreboard operators were busy at Eastern on Monday as Eastern and Southwestern combined for 19 runs. Eastern eventually won the offensive battle 10-9 in seven innings.
There were 25 hits, including 10 extra base hits in the game.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with six lead changes.
Eastern finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. A steal of home by Jacob Stewart gave Eastern Musketeers Varsity the lead for good.
Stewart reached base five times in the game for Eastern. He singled in the first inning.
Jordan Eberle got the win for Eastern despite allowing six runs over 5 1/3 innings. Eberle struck out four, walked four and gave up eight hits.
Justin Hadley took the loss for Southwestern . He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked three and struck out 10.
The top of the first saw Southwestern take an early lead, 2-0. Tryston Wheatley started the rally for Southwestern with a double. Southwestern then tacked on more runs when Wheatley scored on an error.
Eastern survived Southwestern ‘s surge and put up two runs of its own in the first. Eastern scored on an RBI double by Hayden Woolsey and a steal of home by Jay Judson.
Southwestern got two-run rallies in the third inning and the sixth. In the third, Southwestern scored on a steal of home, scoring Wheatley.
Eastern posted one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh. In the fifth, Eastern scored when Brant Stewart was hit by a pitch, bringing home Ridge Hall.
