Sixth-inning lead change vaults South Central (Elizabeth, IN) past Eastern, 5-4
Eastern lost a hotly contested 5-4 game in seven innings on Wednesday at Eastern after surrending the lead in the sixth inning.
Brant Stewart went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for Eastern. He singled in the first and third innings.
Webber got the win in relief for South Central . Webber pitched one inning and allowed no runs.
Dawson Petro was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
South Central jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The South Central (Elizabeth, IN) attack began with a double from Ray. A groundout by Schoen then moved Ray from second to third.
South Central brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the third, South Central scored on a groundout by Logsdon, plating Ray.
Eastern answered South Central ‘s top inning with one run of its own in the third. Eastern Musketeers Varsity scored on a groundout by Austin Hedrick.
Musketeers quickly matched South Central ‘s strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the fourth. Eastern scored on a groundout by Payton Miller.
It didn’t take long for the Musketeers to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the sixth. Eastern scored on a groundout by Leif Edlin and an RBI single by Jordan Eberle.
