News · Updates to EHS Athletics due to the Coronavirus


 

  • Spring Sports:
  • No School- No Practice
  • IHSAA- We will still need 10 practices prior to first contest
  • Rescheduling games:
  • It will be at the discretion of the Athletic Directors of all the schools involved
  • Looking at a possible Conference tournaments for:    Tennis, Baseball, Softball
  • Track and Golf will be as scheduled for their conference matches.
  • As of now- the state tourney series for each sport will continue as scheduled-
  • Grade checks will be conducted this week as March 13th was the end of the 3rd nine weeks.
  • Starting back up:
  • Golf- Baseball, Tennis-
  • First practice date will be April 11th ( Saturday)
  • First contest date could be April 23rd
  • Track- (need 6 additional practices when we return)
  • First Practice date will be April 11th ( Saturday)
  • First contest date could be April 18th with 10 practices
  • Softball- (need 6 additional practices when we return)
  • First Practice date back- April 11th
  • First Contest date could be April 18th-
  • These dates depend on what other schools are doing as well.  Some may be out longer than us- so that will affect our games.
  • We Encourage athletes:
  • Stay away from meeting as a group– 6 feet apart / wash your hands regularly
  • Condition on their own- arms and cardio and play golf on their own
  • Reminder to  ALL spring athletes
  • You are still considered in season- so NO travel ball or various leagues/ tournaments or races or when we come back to playing.
  • they must still follow the IHSAA guidelines for in-season rules.
  • Failure could result in  be considered ineligible for the remainder of the high school season.

Participation by a student in any organized non-school sports competition during the Authorized Contest Season, or at any time prior to the conclusion of the student’s participation in the IHSAA Tournament Series, in that sport shall cause such students to become ineligible for their School team in that sport for a period not to exceed Three hundred Sixty-five (365) days as determined by the Commissioner, unless an outstanding student-athlete waiver for said competition is approved by the coach, principal and the IHSAA office and is on file in the principal’s office. A maximum of Two (2) waivers may be granted during a Contest Season.

  • Just remember:
  • NO one asked for this so make the best of it.  ALL schedules will be changed this year. We must work together to make the best of a bad situation.
