Early Lead For Silver Creek Seals Fate For Eastern (Pekin) Varsity
Eastern (Pekin) Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 18-1 loss to Silver Creek on Monday. Silver Creek took the lead on a double in the first inning.
The Eastern (Pekin) Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Silver Creek, giving up 18 runs.
In the first inning, Silver Creek got their offense started. Tyler Wheeler drove in one when he doubled.
Silver Creek scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Silver Creek offense in the inning was led by Sierota, Young, Falcone, Holden Groher, and Stephen Davis, all driving in runs in the frame.
Bryson McNay was the winning pitcher for Silver Creek. He allowed five hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Falcone threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Rhett Pennington took the loss for Eastern (Pekin) Varsity. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out one.
Jacob Stewart led Eastern (Pekin) Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Silver Creek tallied 12 hits in the game. Wheeler, Dylan Whitt, and McNay all managed multiple hits for Silver Creek.
