Eastern (Pekin) jumped out to an early lead over Switzerland County and took home a 12-3 victory on Saturday. Eastern (Pekin) scored on a double by Snyder Pennington in the first inning, a wild pitch during Rhett Pennington’s at bat in the first inning, a single by Landon Snelling in the second inning, an error in the second inning, and a stolen base by Snelling in the second inning.
Eastern (Pekin) put up four runs in the second inning. Eastern (Pekin) big bats in the inning were led by a single by Snelling, Cauy Motsinger, Payton Miller, and an error on a ball put in play by S. Pennington.
Miller earned the victory on the mound for Eastern (Pekin). He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one. S. Pennington threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Weaver took the loss for Switzerland County. He surrendered seven runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one.
Eastern (Pekin) tallied eight hits on the day. Conner Gonzalez and Brant Farris each racked up multiple hits for Eastern (Pekin). Farris and Gonzalez all had two hits to lead Eastern (Pekin). Eastern (Pekin) tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Farris led the way with two.
Wilks led Switzerland County with two hits in three at bats.
