The “Pekin Grind” Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Brownstown.
Eastern (Pekin) defeated Brownstown 6-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five with Eastern (Pekin) batting in the bottom of the sixth when Conner Gonzalez reached on a dropped third strike.
Brownstown opened up scoring in the first inning. Borden drove in two when he homered.
Snyder Pennington took the win for Eastern (Pekin). He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out one and walking zero.
Borden took the loss for Brownstown . He surrendered one run on three hits over one inning, striking out two and walking zero.
Rhett Pennington started the game for Eastern (Pekin). He surrendered four runs on four hits over four and a third innings, striking out one. Wineinger started the game for Brownstown . He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out five and walking one
Eastern (Pekin) socked one home run on the day. Snyder Pennington went deep in the sixth inning.
Eastern (Pekin) tallied 11 hits. Payton Miller, Rhett Pennington, and Hunter Anderson each managed multiple hits for Eastern (Pekin). Payton Miller went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Eastern (Pekin) in hits.
Brownstown totaled six hits. Wineinger and Borden all managed multiple hits for Brownstown . Eastern travels to Seymour to face Trinity Lutheran this Saturday in then Trinity tournament.
