Three Eastern (Pekin) Combine In 2 hit Shutout Victory Against Springs Valley.
Eastern (Pekin) defeated Springs Valley 8-0 on Thursday as three pitchers combined to throw a 2 hit shutout.
Eastern (Pekin) secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by Conner Gonzalez and Snyder Pennington and a ball put in play by Brant Farris.
Eastern (Pekin) got on the board in the second inning when Rhett Pennington’s sac fly scored one run for Eastern (Pekin).
The Musketeers notched six runs in the fourth inning. Farris, Gonzalez, and S. Pennington each had RBIs in the frame.
One bright spot for Springs Valley was a single by Brown in the fourth inning.
Ryan Adamson earned the win for Eastern (Pekin). He lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Payton Miller and Conner Gonzalez entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief as Miller struck out 6 batters, allowing only 2 hits and 0 walks. Gonzalez closed the game in the 7th inducing a 1-4-3 double play to end the game.
Crews took the loss for Springs Valley. He allowed three hits and six runs over three and a third innings, walking zero.
Brant Farris, Adam Stewart, Snyder Pennington, Hunter Anderson, Ryan Adamson, and Conner Gonzalez each managed one hit to lead Eastern (Pekin). Eastern Musketeers will continue their competitive grind in baseball as they face Lanesville Eagles on Friday.
