Four hits from Rhett Pennington helped lead the way for the Musketeers over Corydon 16-10 on Saturday. R. Pennington singled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Eastern (Pekin) collected 18 hits and Corydon had nine.
The Pekin Grind got things started in the first inning when Snyder Pennington singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Eastern (Pekin) tallied five runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by R. Pennington and S. Pennington and doubles by Hunter Anderson and Payton Miller.
Corydon scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Corydon came thanks to a walk by Straub, a single by Richardson, and a fielder’s choice by Murphy.
R. Pennington was the winning pitcher for Eastern (Pekin). He threw a complete game allowing nine hits and ten runs while striking out six.
Timberlake took the loss for Corydon. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out one.
The Pekin Grind racked up 18 hits. S.Pennington, Conner Gonzalez, R.Pennington, Hunter Anderson, Cauy Motsinger, Brant Farris, and Payton Miller all had multiple hits for the Musketeers. R. Pennington went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Eastern (Pekin) in hits.
Corydon scattered nine hits in the game. Babcock and Richardson all collected multiple hits for Corydon. Babcock led Corydon with three hits in four at bats.
