Nothing came easy for Eastern (Pekin) on Monday, as they fell 11-3 to Linton-Stockton.
Linton-Stockton opened up scoring in the first inning, when C. Anderson doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Linton-Stockton pulled away for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored one run for Linton-Stockton, Kennett singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Pyne doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, C. Anderson doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and K. Anderson homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Kennett led Linton-Stockton to victory on the mound. He went two innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking zero. Howard and Cox entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Rhett Pennington took the loss for Eastern (Pekin). He went three and a third innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out three.
Pyne started the game for Linton-Stockton. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one
Linton-Stockton socked two home runs on the day. Pyne put one out in the third inning. K. Anderson had a homer in the fourth inning.
Snyder Pennington went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Eastern (Pekin) in hits.
Linton-Stockton collected 14 hits on the day. Pyne, C. Anderson, K. Anderson, and Crane all managed multiple hits for Linton-Stockton. Pyne led Linton-Stockton with four hits in five at bats.
